depth of field
An effect where part of the image appears blurry and out-of-focus. This could be the foreground, the background, or both.
This mimics the photographic effect that's caused by the camera being able to focus at only one distance at a time, making objects at other distances appear blurry. This is often used artistically to draw attention to one part of the image.
